I got my tongue pierced in march and the piercing itself didn't hurt at all... But the week after that was hell. I work with 4 year old kids and they couldn't understand anything I was saying... 2 months after I got my nose redone for the 3rd time... It didn't hurt that much and it healed good and then about a month ago I got my septum done ... Honestly the piercing wasn't bad it's the feeling of the needle going through that gave me pain (I got a retainer put in at first) and about 3 days after I got it done ... It got knocked out which I didn't feel a thing because I had a few drinks :| ashamed to say and I went 2 days later to get it redone which was the most pain full 30 minutes of my life. My piercer had to use 2 needles to pop the tiny skin that was growing in the hole to connect the 2 needles .. It hurt so bad no blood just pain after that it was good.. The first time I got my septum pierced it hurt it felt like as if I had a nose job but the second time I felt nothing .. And now 1 month later it doesn't hurt but there is a spot under my nose when I press it a little hard it hurts .. I was told that when they pierce your septum they pierce it in a little tiny soft skin part which is really close to nerves and it might hit them when you push on your nose... So yeah .. Other than that I love it ... But being sick with a stuffy nose 4 days after the piercing sucks ... :)

I don't know which hurts more, but I got my tongue pierced 1 week ago.  The piercing did not hurt bad at all.  The worst part of it has been the after swelling.  The piercing was surprisingly easy, the bar inserting hurt just a smidge and I would rate it on a scale of 1/10 about a 3.  I think I built the entire thing up in my mind more than anything.

The swelling for me has been pretty bad.  I was forewarned of it though since I have a short tongue.  I took Midol every 4-6 hours (this worked the best out of everything I tried) for the first 5-6 days and ate/drank TONS of ice/water.  There were points were I thought I would end up taking the bar out, but with medicine and ice I was able to manage those moments.  Now at day 7 I can tell the swelling has gone down some.  I no longer feel like the tip of my tongue has been bit or feel a burning sensation.  I'm not using any meds to manage my pain but I am still eating lots of ice and still having some troubles speaking.  At the beginning I couldn't pronounce R, T, and S.  Now I only struggle with S.

I know that pain/swelling varies by person, but having a fairly low pain threshold the tongue piercing was surprisingly easier than I had anticipated.  If you can handle managing the possible swelling/pain afterwards I think that this is a fairly easy piercing to endure with a fairly quick healing process.

I got my septum done a year ago. It kind of tickled, so for me it didnt hurt. My guy did it free hand so I didnt have the uncomfortable experience of the clamps.  The only time I don't like it, is during allergy season or when I have cold otherwise I love it :)

Pain differentiates for everyone, but I had my septum done about 2 months ago, and it hurt pretty bad. Wasn't unbearable, but for a few seconds I felt like someone had hit me in the nose haha. I would have to say septum piercings hurt much worse, I've heard tongue piercings barely hurt at all, never heard anyone say it hurt all that bad. Like a quick pinch

Ive had my tongue pierced for about a year and recently got my septum pierced. The actual piercing of the tongue didnt hurt at all.. Only the swelling afterwards. The septum.. HURT LIKE HELL! This was the most painful piercing ive gotten and it hurts for about 2 weeks afterwards. And you will most likely hit it about 20 times a day unintentionally

I had my septum done a few days ago and it was more uncomfortable then painful. The only times it hurts is when I hit it so something like that. And even when you hit it it's not an uncontrolable pain it's just an ouch pain. Not bad at all. If your thinking about getting it, go for it. Even if it does hurt you its like a few seconds (or week for after pain) of pain for if not a life time, a few years of beauty.
