Face masks are developed to help the skin stay clean and fresh looking. While it is tempting to use one every single day, it is definitely not recommended.

Usually face masks are meant to be used up to three times a week. However, there are some that recommend that you only use them once a week. It also depends on your skin type. If you have dry skin you should stick to using one once a week as otherwise you could really dry out your skin. However, for oily skin you can use one up to three times a week in order to control the oil within the face.

The only way a face mask can damage your skin is if you do not follow the instructions. Many people get confused with how long they should leave the face mask on for. Usually 30 minutes is the longest period of time you should leave a face mask on for. Any longer and it could dry out your skin, make it sting and make your face swell up a little.

So stick to using one as often as your skin type allows and make sure you find a suitable one for your skin type.

It depends on what type of mask you are using. Cleansing mask should be used only once to twice a week. Moisturizing mask can be used daily. Lifting/firming mask can be used very couple days. Cleansing mask is the only type that you should be careful with. Overdoing cleansing mask could irritate the skin.

Sometimes a mask will make the skin breakout at first. Usually, after a repeated use, the breakouts will go away. So, if you have acne prone skin you should start with one time a week and see how it goes.
