Can Tongue Piercing Kill You?

They definitely can kill you. But everything in this world can kill you. Get the tongue piercing, you know you are gunna be fine. Probably 1 in a billion people die from a tongue piercing. Dying is such a slim chance, people just want you to be AWARE of the possible consquences before you make any decisions.

Ok I guess in a very extreme case you could possibly pass an infection to your brain and kill you... But, the guy that does all my piercings and tattoos has been at it for over 20 years and the only thing that he says is even slightly common, and what I mean by that is that it might happen but very very unlikely, is if he were to hit the nerve in the middle of your tongue it would hurt like crazy and it would bleed like crazy and it could in severe cases could cause facial droop for a couple days.... I have my tongue lip and ears done and no problems at all!

I'm not an expert but my boyfriend had his brother  (whom is NOT a professional)pierce his tounge 4 him .which was very successful. His brother did not use clamps or a needle instead he had my boyfriend( the person getting pierced) hold his tounge firmly with a napkin and then his brother simply just pushed the barbell through his tounge.   (sorry can't spell)

Well yes you can die.. For a infection might hit and then spread in your mouth and gums and can kill you in up to 3 days. Also the bar to it might fall of when you are asleep or eating and it could hurt you if you swallow it like you may choke on it or it could get stuck in your throat. It can also cause a brain abbesses from a little infection spreading and that can definately kill you. Or you could hit a nerve or vain and that can really hurt or kill you. I mean yes tongue piercings look hot but sometimes it ain't worth it. I would risk it but I definately wouldn't attempt piercing it myself as you could die from that in up to 60 hours because you need it professionally done. Ok so you might be sitting back reading this and thinking up to that is very rare and will not happen to me... But how do you know because if it is known to happen well it might just happen to you so be careful mate and look after yourself.! In the mean time I hope I haven't turned anyone of getting a tongue piercing because I am getting mine done professionally and I ain't worried. Bye xx

Not likely, but definitely possible. Any site where infection can get in, especially in the head, has the potential. A girl in Missouri died from an infection that started in a lip piercing 3 years ago. It killed her in 72 hours.

BTW, I did tattooing for 12 years.. And even that has a risk of serious or fatal infections.

I haven't ever heard f it  I have had mine dom=ne for going on 6 years now I mean if you swallow the bar it may scatchor tear something but I don't thin it will kill you but if you r considering having it done  yeah it hut=rts a bit but right after you get it dob=ne eat a lot of ice  it will not swell as bad

Ear piercings get infected if not carried out by reputable companies. So Tongue piercing is as risky with infections spreading in mouth to gums. As for killing you I would say very rare these days!

No toung rings can't kill you but when you sleep with it you have to be very careful and it has to stay clean you can use mouth wash to kill the germs off of it

I haven't heard of any but you can die from most anything and doing anything to your body that was not but there in the beginning can effect you in one way or another!

Yes tongue piercing can kill you. However the reason is not the blue vein. It is actually that if there is an infection, it can get worse and the person can die. The major blood vessels pass from the tongue and can pass the infection to the brain which can be deadly.

Yes I think it can kill you because.. If the tongue ring hits a nerve or vein it can kill you at extreme cases .. Or it can just droop your face for a coupe of days. Or if it somehow comes of in your sleep you could swallow it. If you try to pierce your tongue yourself that can also kill you because you need an expert piercer to pierce it for you or you might pierce it in the wrong spot and it can kill you. That is why you have got to be careful with a tongue piercing. A lot of people say this is highly unlikely to happen but it has to happen to someone and that might just be you so be careful. But I love tongue piercings careful look hot!!

If you don't take care of it...it can get infected and cause serious problems like if the infection was bad it can go throughout your blood stream and can kill you...also if they pierce the main vein in your tongue it can cause heart attacks, big loss in blood and can also kill you...but other than that it's okay, I have mine done and am find and dandy.
