I had oily skin for years, and tended to break out occasionally...my dermatologist told me something that amazed me and that I pass on to anyone with this problem.

You treat oily skin as 'sensitive' skin,....NO HARD SCRUBBING..and NEVER use hot water to wash your face....only warm water,,,and rinse rinse rinse with COOL NOT COLD water...NO EXTREMES OF WATER TEMP ON YOUR FACE EVER!!

He recommended Dove soap, which amazed me.....seems the '1/4 cleansing creme' does not hurt oily skin; he said both his dry skin and oily skin patients had good luck with it.

I am a retired makeup artist so am always interested in anything to do with skincare...other soaps you may want to try are Kirk's Cocoa Hardwater Castile soap; very gentle; GREAT lather and rinses away in a flash, which is very important...also good is Pears soap, made since the 18th century and originally used to bath newborn babies in!.

DO NOT use Ivory;;;; a harsh detergent...and NO deodorant soaps on your face, ever.....

Purpose soap is also good...and Cetaphil makes a liquid cleanser that is great, also recommended by dermatoligists....just make sure you get the drugstore version of it - same exact ingredients, lower price...read the labels fro yourself!!

I hope this helps you....any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get back to me!!!!! Always glad to help!

A facial scrub that contains aloe vera and lemon juice is a great way to get rid of oily or greasy skin.

I'm guessing that you probably don't want to get rid of the skin, just the oilyness? Soap and water is still the best way to deal with oily skin.

Changing your diet to low fat helps some. I use aloe Vera gel meant for sunburns after exfoliating gently and washing with dove bar soap, because aloe vera sucks up the oil. A little goes a long way!
