In general having a slight trim about every 8 to 10 weeks will help you to grow your hair out faster.  But keep in mind it should only be a slight trim of about 1/4 of an inch.

Your hair does not grow longer if trimmed. Hair does not grow from ends but from scalp. Cutting ends prevents split ends, and makes hair thicker. If you want to grow hair faster and keep it healthy. Try not to wash hair so much, hair has natural oils that it needs. Blow drying and straightening is also bad for hair, it dries out and strips your hair. Apply leave in conditioner to damp hair to keep it soft. When keeping your hair in a pony tail use scrunchies not bands, bands actually cuts your hair killing it and making it dry looking. Keep up with this and I PROMISE you will see results in two to three months. GOOD LUCK! Let me know what happens.
