If its itchy thats good, means its healing. Green fluid is a sign of infection (white and clear is normal) Absolutely DO NOT use peroxides or rubbing alcohol to clean it! Its the worst thing you can do because it will kill the weak bacteria and the strong ones will multiply and make things worse. To Clean it just use regular unscented Anti-Bacterial Soap to wash it daily, rinse well, and once every 4 days use an epson saut and boiled water mixture to clean it ( 1 tsp epson salt to 1 cup boiled water) And very importantly, do NOT play with the jewelry or touch it unnecessarily.

Iv had mine done for about 6 months now and I've never had a serious infection that can't be fixed with a little bit of antiseptic. What I've found really helpfull is a cup of salty water held upside down on your stomach while your lying on your back. I did have some pain at times when it got caught on clothing and bedsheets and that would hurt for weeks afterwards sometimes but all that went when I got a silicon belly button ring which I absolutly love to death and recomend it strongly. My answer is as long as its not hurting a lot for no reason, bleeding and/or your getting a lot of puss (your going to have some for a long time, I still get yellowish puss on mine after all this time but the amount goes down) of if the puss is any other colour but yellow or white then go see a doctor or the place that pierced it.
There is usually a little swelling if you see green puss then it is infected, but if it is yellow, or white I wouldn't worry... Scabby, puss, red. If this happens at home just get some salt and warm water, mix together and clean your piercing about 3times a day. This has happend to me and if you just clean at home with that it should clear up within a few weeks but everyones different so don't be worried if it does'nt just carry on the treatment. I only used that way as I was 14 and my mum would really shout at me if she found out, haha but of course you can get treatment from the internet ( please don't do that) and you local pharmacey. I had my belly button per iced a few weeks ago and I had to take it out because my dad didnt want me having it. After it had healed I tried piercing it again . I re-pierced the whole and it hurt a lot, the pain started to go after a day but then I started getting a red circle around the top and some white puss came out , I went back to the place I had it per iced and the lady said it was fine but not to let anyone touch it, so unless your bellybutton is hurting a lot and is having a lot of puss come out of it I think it should be fine, the lady I saw also mentioned that I should carry on cleaning it well. So if you have the after care kit use that , if it all goes don't go and buy another one just use salt and hot water and keep an eye on it .x
So I got my belly pierced last week or so, the whole part of the skin above the belly ring is a light red and it gets crusty, no puss, just crust and I was wondering if it was infected, I clean it everyday some days 2 times with peroxide because I ran out of alcohol wipes. I'm just scared.

I got my navel piercing a month an a half ago and it really don't hurt and nothing is coming out of it but it has a little tiny red/pinkish bump below my top hole I clean it twice a day with sea salt and a q-tip but is that normal?
Hopefully you didn't sit and touch and turn it all day long, but if it's red and swollen it's a good sign of infection. Should be better now, it's been 2 weeks since you have asked.
Well, I have an infected belly button and it's really bad. It hurts worse that when I first got it. My belly button is red,some yellow,and it has crusties all around it.

I have just got my belly done and I have been experiencing some smelly yellow pus red around the top hole and is very tender my friends mam changed it for me and a few day after that it swelled up like a balloon and bleeds a lot when it got knocked on my clothes ect but I have put the one back in from when I got it done but it still bleeds and gets a lot of pus. Also when I wake up in the morning there is a lot of red and yellowy crusty stuff around the top hole and it smells what should I do ? (I am 11)
I'm 12 years old and have had my belly button pierced for just over a week now.. It was bruised and sore for the first few days, but my friends mum (who has got her belly pierced too, told me that when it bruises it is normal) nothing has happened to mine yet.. No puss, scabs or blood. Mine is a little red around the holes but it is normal.
As with all infections of the skin you are looking for the four "or"s : Tumor : Latin for swelling; Dolor: Latin for pain; Rubor: Latin for redness; Odor: English and Latin for bad smell and finally, Lack of Function. Hard, raised, reddened areas with exudates such as pus, colored drainage and blood are a sure give away of infection. If infection is suspected you should have the piercing looked at by a medical doctor for appropriate hygienic instruction and antibiotic administration. A severe enough infection could lead to cellulitis, a blood-borne systemic infection, that could result in hospitalization and even death.
I have had my belly button pierced for about 4 weeks, it hardly ever bleeds yet does occasionally, yellowish puss sometimes come out and goes crusty, the top piercing is still a bit red, is it infected?

Red. Yellow? Sore, maybe little bubble blisters around it. Clean it with either salt water or savlon to prevent infection, if it is already infected, then go back to the place where you got it done and ask for their advice :)
I got my bellybutton pierced a week ago and like I think I bruised it, everyone says its infected, but like if it was infected the bottom hole wuld look the same right?.. But wen I was in gym my freind has heers infected, and she told me if I squeezed it and puss came out then its infected, so I squeezed it and it became purple around it and the white stuff came out like they tell you is normal so people are beginning to worry me about it being infected, but it has no pain, no puss, its only red at the bottom hole, and the top where I ''bruised'' it is purply color. So is it infected?
