My 3 year daughter has MRSA in her scalp and the infected area has lost all hair except a couple of strands that kept in tact.  I would recommend you go to your family doctor, or dermatologist.  The Doctor prescribed oral antibiotic and ointment to the infected area.  If you don't get it treated it will spread and you will lose more hair and the infected area will get bigger and bigger and when you think it goes away it will come back and spread all over your scalp and might spread to other areas of your body. Also, I had to throw away all her hair brushes, combs and hair accessories that she wore when her scalp was inflamed. Find a shampoo that keeps the scalp healthy and moisturized. Hope this helps.

I have had sores on my head since my husband was in the hospital and I slept there for a week.  I went to an allergist and was tested for everything.  I got rid of all the things I was allergic to but the sores still remained.  Today I went to the dermatologist and he said I have folliculitis.  I asked what he meant and he said it was like boils in my hair.  I said, "Boils like MRSA boils???"   He said it is staph and yes MRSA but it is not all over my body so he gave me a script for doxycycline to take 2 a day and see if it clears up.

MRSA can grow on skin in case of injury. Under normal conditions MRSA can not be on scalp. Alopecia areata is a condition of unknown origin in which hair falls out in patches. Itchy scalp and sores all over head can be due to dandruff. Use some antidandruff medicine. Steroids can play role in solving this problem.
