I am so happy I am not the only one!  I have had the same problem from every salon I have been too, so I am not convinced that it is a fungus problem.  I believe it is from over exposure and since the positioning of my heels are pushed directly up against the glass, the only way I have avoided the problem is putting a towel under my feet while I tan.  I have been using an anti itch cream also used to treat yeast infections to help treat the itch.  Every time I have experienced the blister-like itchy bumps on my heels they only last a few days.

I just had the same thing happen...I am a regular tanner, never burn...but woke up last night with crazy itching and burning on my heels...then noticed they were actually blistered...I have never had this happen before.  Athletes foot came to mind to begin with but the possibility of this is small because athletes foot is a fungus that grows in between  your toes or under them...because of the creases.  For now I am going to treat mine as a burn....and start putting a towel under my heels when tanning...Hopefully this will help!!

Hey guys--I have the same problem. I wouldn't exactly all them blisters because they're not raised and bubbly as blisters usually are. But red, itchy spots on my heels. They are exactly where my heels lay on the tanning bed. I manage a tanning salon and have spoken to many of my clients about it, no one has experienced the same problem. I've started putting a towel under my feet while I tan but I forget sometimes so they haven't gone away. Hopefully they will soon.

I have tanned off and on for a few years now and just recently experienced the red, itchy spots on my heels as well. I think maybe it has to do with being in a super bed that has just had its bulbs changed. I will be using a towel for sure from now on!

Your heel could be blistered due to burn and in that case you could try a foot cream with aloe in it. However, there is also the possibility that it could be athletes foot. Bad cases of it do cause blister like bumps that either burn or itch. In this instance try an athletes foot cream or spray, change your shoes and socks regularly and don't apply a moisture cream.

You can actually get athlete's foot from tanning in tanning beds.
I suspected that is how I got athlete's foot and did an experiment.
The place were I was tanning is very clean and I tried to do a
controlled experiment to prove my theory. And yes indeed, I got
athlete's foot, again and did so voluntarily to prove my theory.

I have exactly the same problem. I have to stop walking at times to itch my feet, it's so bad! I'm just glad I'm not going crazy because no one I know has experienced this! I will have to go get some anti-itch cream tonight and start using a towel!

The itchy bumps between your breasts are probably an allergic reaction to the rays. Polymorphic light eruption or sun poisoning. I get those too and also the burnt itchy heels. Towel it is. The only thing I can tell you about the bumps is slow down and don't stay in the bed as long if you can help it. If you can't a benadryl spray may help or something with aloe or lidocane. Do not scratch then they will scar, but they will go away on their own without scarring otherwise.

I have been tanning for exactly a month and just discovered one big blister on each of my heels. They itch really bad at night. Today, I put a towel under my heels while tanning, but I have decided to take a week off, just to be safe.

Yes! I'm so grateful to hear that other people have had this same problem. This is the second time this has happened to me & I just now associated the problem with the tanning bed. Has any one found a way to make them go away?

Yes, I get them.  My doctor, although not pleased with my tanning, prescribed me a lidocaine ointment and that stops the severe itching.  I will be putting a towel under my heels from now on!

I have the same thing, but my itchy blisters  aren't just on my heels, but on the tops of 2 of my toes too and I have the ichy spots in between my breasts.  I'm figuring that I picked up athletes feet at the tanning salon and then the tanning bed rays make it flare up because it comes back each year that I tan.  The only thing that I don't understand is the bumps between my breasts because that most likely isn't athletes feet.  That part makes me nervous, but I was thinking that since the skin is so thin there that it gets a heat rash, but it iches so bad.  Thanks for all your comments, because I can now def. Figure that it's athletes foot. Gross, I'm a clean person so I'm freaking out.  Does anyone have anymore info. About this?
