You can put a normal stud earring  in a cartilage piercing (if you are talking about a helix piercing). The only thing is, if you get it pierced with a 14 (or even 16 depending on the person and how they heal) gauge earring then you probably wont be able to get a 14 gauge earring back in after wearing a stud but its all your preference of what you want to wear in it. You will have to leave the jewelry that you are pierced with in for the full healing period before you change it though I think usually about 2 months. I have my left helix pierced and I love it but I have a lot of friends who have their right done. Its all up to you. Whatever looks better on the person. If you aren't sure then ask some friends what their opinion is. Good luck!

Yeah I put a normal stud earring in my ear and it wouldn't let me put the original size cartilage piercing back in, I just made it bleed.
I don't know the gauges

Well you could but I think it would be difficult nd the piercing might reject it or somethin so I wouldnt and whichever ear feel right I had it on my right ear because it just wouldnt feel right on my left for some reason. Hope that helps

Yes, you can indeed put a stud earring in a cartilage piercing and it looks the best in your right ear. You can also shop online for such stud earrings and get a beautiful one.
