How To Remove Really Bad Tangles In Hair?

As a youngster I was always climbing trees and getting knots in my very thick, fairly curly hair. My mum and my child minder used to insist on pulling a brush through it from the top, which was painful and just ripped the knots out of my hair leaving lots of broken hair.  Neither are good.

As an adult, I have learnt the best trick is:

  • Wet you hair as if to shampoo it
  • Skip shampooing and put conditioner in your hair.  Put a lot on the ends and work it up to the roots
  • Then take a wide toothed comb and again work from the ends to the roots.
  • Don't be worried about how long the conditioner stays in, up to 10 minutes would be fine, just make sure you work the tangles out.
You can then shampoo and condition again if need be, I find any shampoo tends to strip the hair of all grease and conditioner, so I would normally put a little again on the ends.

You can manage long hair once you get used to it.  Mainly I will plait it if I'm going to do any sports rather than risk wrecking it with knots and tangles.

Get a really wide toothed comb and start from the bottom and work your way to the top. Catch hold of the hair so there is no pulling on the roots. When washing use conditioner as this will help.

Well my mom got my hair cut
because we have a pool so when
I swim it gets tangles. So I suggest
that you can get your hair cut or
use a special shampoo.

No! I like my long hair! It's pretty and short hair is hard to style. My hair is slightly curly, so I don't think it would look good short and curly.

I have tried everything to get my hair untangled, but you know what I usually end up doing?  Scissors.  All the rest of it hurts too much!
