If you’ve just had your ears pierced, it will feel weird to sleep with them in at first – you just have to get used to it!

How To Sleep With Earrings In Without Compromising The Healing Process
  • Make sure your pillow-case is clean.  A newly-pierced ear is an open wound, so treat it like one! Everything that your ears come into contact with should be as clean as possible.
  • Tie your hair back. This stops your earrings getting tangled up, and keeps the natural oils in your hair away from the piercings.
  • Support your head on your arm, if it’s comfortable. I used to do this when I had my ears pierced – it creates a little pocket of air beneath your ear, so that you’re not crushing it against the pillow. This stops you from hurting the pierced area while you sleep, and also lets the wound breathe.
  • If your arm goes dead, try sleeping on your back instead!
  • Wash your piercings with a saline solution (salt water) before you go to bed and when you wake up.
It should only take a couple of nights before you get used to sleeping with earrings in, and the discomfort should start to go down soon, too.

Good luck, and whatever you do, don’t take out your earrings to sleep - they'll heal up, quick as a flash!

You sleep normally. Don't worry about them. It may feel weird, but just a word of warning - do not take them out, because even after a minute the backs will start to close. Good luck.
