In a recent report or study or whatever you wana call it, the average woman in the uk was 5ft4 and a dress size 16
I don't think a 2 inch increase in height can account for a 6 inch increase on the waistline...
Statistically, size 14 is the happiest size to be for women, 16 and 12 coming joint second. So we're ideal, fellow English speakers!
Anyway, who cares what size you are - it's far more important to be in good health, which entails regular (and enjoyable) exercise, tasty and fulfilling food and a sunny outlook, which is all supported by the foundation of confidence.

I think its a 14/16
It Was A Size 12 But Then It Moved To Size 14/16 In The Past 5 Years
I used to be a size 20, now I'm a size 4 (US 0).
I'm still not happy, and my eating disorder rages on.
Says everything really.
Be happy with your body - love yourself.

What uk dress size consists of these measurements 32 - 23 - 32?
14-16
16 size UK? That's a 14 American... (depending on your height) that's not exactly the fittest.
According to the Independent, on Monday 26 June 2000, Average size has increased from 12 to 14.

At ASOS the size guide recommends size 8 as a 24inch waist; at new-look a size 8 is recommended as 27ich waist! Thats a whole THREE inches different! So when you say that the average size was a 12 now 14/16 - do you mean 26, 28 or inch waist? A size 12 then may have been 28inch, for example. Now it might be 30inches, so a 1950s size12 woman, would be a size 14woman now. No difference in size of women - just clothes made!?...

I'm a healthy 10-12 at 20yrs old.. At 5'2 I don't
think the 'average dress size' would work for me.
I would have to be quite unhealthy. There shouldn't
be an average dress size it all depends on height
lifestyle and your personal metabolism..

The average dress size for women in the UK is a 16, with the average female measurements being a bust of 38.5 inches (98 cm), a waist of 34 inches (86 cm) and hips of 40.5 inches (103 cm).
Women's measurements have increased considerably since the 1950's, when the average female waist measurement was a full six inches smaller. However the change is partially explained by the fact that people in general are now somewhat taller than they were in the 1950's.
Comparing UK women with their US counterparts, overall British women tend to be taller, lighter and slimmer than American women. This is thought to be due to differences in diet, with Americans tending to prefer larger portions of meat.
38% of women are considered to be clinically obese, and more than 60% of people shopping for clothes say that they have difficulty finding clothes that fit.

Yep the average dress size is a size 16 and growing... We are unfortunately following Americas bad eating habits. I'm a healthy size 10, I couldnt imagine being overweight.
Was size 12 but now moved to size 14, fat, you think?! No, below this size is 'skinny' and size 0 models are just un-natural.
I actually don't know. I use size 8 in the UK, myself. I guess the average size is a big larger. Probably 14 as some of the others are saying.
