Clipper the sides to one inch....then if you have scissors then you need to angle towards the crown of your head. That for a mohawk. And then if you just want it to be spiked on top like the messy kinda look you will have to clipper the sides to about 1/2 inch to an inch the top portion will be about an inch to inch 1/2 depending on your clipper length, make sure the edges are rounded which are the corners of your scalp. After hold the hair between your fingers and texture by pointing into your hair shaft. If this is at all confusing I think going to tha hairdresser is a better idea.
