Called peer pressure and thanks to TV, girls think they have to be the prettiest to get that football team QB or whoever but society has taught many the only the prettiest get all the good looking studs so they try their best to look their best.  Just like many guys only want the prettiest around them to boost their macho ego and make their friends jealous but this does all change as we get older and we find out there are more important things than just looks

I guess whether we agree with it or not, women are still judged on their appearance more than guys are.

That's not to say that guys aren't also judged on how they look - and they also spend a lot of time thinking about they way they appear to others too, but with the social status quo - I think it'd be fair to say women worry more about how they look because it seems to have more of an impact on their day-to-day life.

You only need to flick on the TV to see the number of products being advertised which capitalize on this theme, to see the evidence. Having said that, I have been seeing more and more male beauty products being advertised on TV lately...

Well, I see that on all websites. What you think about us older people age 46 , we worry about our looks - it's something that happens. I'll admit, I am insecure and I'm far from perfect. I've got flaws :D
