It can do, yeah. It’s generally not advisable to use dish soap on your hair, as it can leave your locks dry and brittle!
Why Is Dish-Soap Bad For Your Hair?
If you consider the fact that dish-soap is designed to get the grease off dishes, it makes sense that it would be bad for your hair.
Your hair produces oils, which are what keeps it looking healthy and shiny. Dish-soap will strip your hair of these natural oils, leaving it dry and straw-like.
I’m sure you know what it feels like to wash the dishes without wearing gloves - your hands feel all tight and dry afterwards. That’s because of the dish-soap, and you can guarantee it’ll have the same effect on your hair.
What If It’s An Emergency, And I Have No Shampoo?
I guess you could make an exception just the once - it’s unlikely to do any permanent damage, but your hair’s going to look really dry.
If you use dish-soap on your hair, make sure you use conditioner as well - if you don’t have any hair conditioner, try fabric conditioner, and wash your hair under cold water when you’re done.
This should minimize the damage done by the dish-soap, and will get you out of a tight situation if you’ve run out of shampoo!
However, to avoid getting yourself into this situation, I'd recommend just buying a can of dry shampoo.
You can spray this into your hair at times when you don't have time to clean it properly - and this should tide you over until you can buy some real shampoo. It will be much better for your hair than using dish-soap on it!
