I sometimes ask people if I'm pretty and I know I should not because they assume I am and say yes but my self esteem is low why do I do that to myself?

You just answered your own question Megan... You have low self-esteem, I don't know what you look like but from your response to questions and answers on this site you seem kind and caring, that makes you more than pretty... You're Beautiful on the inside . :)
