Is 14 too young to get a belly piercing? I have wanted one for a while now and I have parental consent but I'm worried about being called names by others. If I want it should I get it and ignore the people who start on me or just not get it at all?

It depends on the 14-yr-old. Not all are sufficiently mature.

Ask yourself why you want this.

Who are you trying to impress? Yourself? These same people who might mock you? Are you just emulating your friends? What is the benefit?

If can answer these, then what’s the problem?

To me, it seems it would do no real harm, but it could become another worry if you’re not ready for it.

Along with the advice Don B. Gave, there is this to consider. Where do you live and what is the climate there? How well do you do with keeping your body clean? Belly button piercings are more likely to get infected than other piercings. You have to keep them extremely clean until they heal. If you live in a hot humid climate, it is a difficult thing to do. I live in Florida, hot and humid is our state slogan. I would say about 1/3 of the people I know who got a belly button piercing ended up with an infection. Between the heat, humidity, and sweat, it is a breeding ground for bacteria. The fold of skin and having to wear clothes over it while at school or work means you can't air it out leafing to more moisture building up. Most ended up with it taking longer to heal, some had to remove them all together. One friend ended not only removing it, but now has a nasty scar. If you decide to go through with it be prepared to clean it at least 3 times a day.
