I hate fashion, so I wear what I think is cool... Even if no one else does, as long as it feels comfortable, so do you think they are cool?
Yes, ripped jeans can be cool - they can add a "grungy" or "I don't care about anything" look to an outfit, and let me tell you that these nonchalant fashion statements can be perceived as cool.
However, as with any outfit, it's all about taking the individual pieces, and making them work together as an outfit.
Therefore, ripped jeans might look cool with Ramones tshirt and a leather jacket, but they could just as easily look ridiculous when wearing a formal shirt and jacket...
Overall though, I'd have to admit that ripped jeans must be considered cool by at least some people...
Otherwise jeans manufacturers wouldn't go to the trouble of stressing, ripping, dying and torturing certain jean designs. The fact they're so widely available suggests they are in demand.
