I have found that the best way to look after skin is to do the following:

  • Wash twice daily with a mild soap or cleanser
  • Drink water as often as possible
  • Get plenty of sleep - 8 hours if possible
  • Use a good moisturiser, especially in cold weather. Not only does the cold affect our skin, the heat from radiators indoors can dry it.
  • Make sure to use sun protection in summer months
  • Drinking alcohol and smoking can make the skin look dull so if you can avoid these your skin will look more radiant.
  • Never go to bed without washing your face (and if you are female, removing your make-up). Drinking a glass of water before bed is also a good habit to get into.

Most skin issues are a result of either not enough moisture (which can lead to cracking etc), and too much moisture or oil which leads to blocked pores, sports and blackheads.

As you can see from the list above, there isn't really one treatment or solution that will keep your skin problem free; instead it's all about maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise), practicing good hygiene, and getting into a treatment routine that works for your skin.
Remember that, just like fingerprints, everyone's skin is different!
