Most will say no, but advise that if you wish to administer a chemical to numb yourself then you should do it.there is not a lot of pain involved but if you feel better that way it's your choice.it depends on where you are because in most places piercers are not allowed to numb an area because it counts as administering anesthetic.discuss the issue with the piercer you intend you have do it.controlled breathing is the best way and your piercer should instruct you when to breathe in/out as it is being done, you can also try meditation, imagine you are in a place you like use all of your sense to imagine the place ie: What does the air taste like as you breathe, what can you smell what does the ground feel like as you walk etc
