Finding an Anne Frank costume isn't easy.
Despite all the recognition the little Jewish girl from Frankfurt am Main received, not many fancy-dress stores have jumped on the Anne Frank bandwagon.

If you're thinking about dressing up as Anne Frank (for a classroom debate, a Halloween party, or even just for sexual gratification), here's how you can go about it:

Dressing up as Anne Frank
Anne Frank would have dressed like most schoolgirls of the 1930s-40s, which is both a good thing and a bad thing.

It's good because putting together an outfit is going to be as simple as finding a drab-looking '30s jacket and skirt combo.

The downside is that everyone will think you're just dressing like someone from the 1930s, and not specifically Anne Frank.

To get the Anne Frank look, here's a few thinks you might want to do:

How to look like Anne Frank
The moleskin diary is a must for any Anne Frank impersonator! Even though she might not have walked around with it 24/7, leaving it out is a bit like dressing up as Mary Poppins without carrying an umbrella.

Cutting out a little yellow star and pinning it to your lapel might be a good move. The Nazis used this symbol to label Jews, and emblazoned the star with the word Juden.
You may even want to consider investing in a World War II evacuee costume.

Unfortunately, none of the above will count for very much unless you at least have a slight resemblance to Anne Frank.

So unless you're pale-skinned and slightly malnourished (with an inherent fear of enclosed spaces), you might not pull off a very good Anne Frank, no matter how much effort you go to!
