You will want to keep it a medium length (depending on how thin the areas are), if it is too long the thinness is obvious. A friend of mine uses the "vertical comb up" which is his cute name for spiking his hair up and using gel to make it look messy. I must admit it looks good and is hard to tell that he is going thin.
My personal opinion is that bangs usually look fake-y with a receding hairline, like a comb-over.
There are receding hairlines and there a high foreheads and noble brows. If you've always had it, life will be easier the sooner you get comfortable with it.
