You can use 10 Volume developer. You only need to deposit the toner not lift. Any thing higher will cause lifting of haircolor. Good luck. I am a cosmetologist.

A color developer acts as an activator with color.
It opens the cuticle of the hair shaft so that the color can be deposited.
It will lift your natural color up a shade or two depending on the volume of the developer.
The first 15 minutes of coloring is lifting of the natural color and the last 15 is depositing of the color dye.
When re-coloring the hair, always color the new growth first. Leave on for 15 minutes, then apply remaining color to the rest of the hair for only about 7 to 10 minutes. Otherwise the hair will become over processed and lose it's elasticity.
