If you are a man or woman who has done the unthinkable, and damaged your hair with a hair straightener, there are steps you need to take to ensure the damage does not get worse. If you use a straightener, there are also several steps you need to take to avoid damage to begin with.

If your hair is burned to the point of where it is brittle to the touch, the damage has been done and there is not very much you can do about it. The only remedy you have is to cut off the damaged hair and follow the steps outlined next to avoid putting yourself in that position again. If the damage is borderline, use a conditioner and shield your hair from the sun. If the damaged hair can be salvaged, you'll know it within a week.  If the damage is not starting to heal within that time, you'll have no other choice than to cut it.

The most important thing to know is never, ever attempt to straighten your hair when it is wet. And there are a number of things to do before you dry your hair after a shampoo. Give yourself a scalp massage, or better yet have your spouse massage your scalp before you shampoo. Leave your conditioner in your hair for at least five minutes before you rinse it, to give it a chance to penetrate every hair follicle completely. Use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week to clean your scalp of the residue that conditioners and shampoos can leave in your scalp. After your shampoo and condition, rinse your scalp in cold water to close the pores on your scalp to prevent them from being damaged.

A hair straightener can either be your hair's best friend or worst enemy. Follow these practices to get the very best results and the best looking head of hair you can have.

Don't worry. Burnt hair will go away in 3 to 4 days. Try not to staighten your hair and just let it go.  Your hairs natural oil will help repair the damage done.  Try a messy bun, braids, or your natural hairstyle.  Just let your hair fix itself.

Probably lots of conditioning, you can probably ask your salon for a repairing type of deep conditioner, if theres a lot of breakage you might also woant to get some of it cut just to give you a fresh start,. That is what I did when that happpen

There is really no way to repair your hair naturally, try to wash your hair every other day rather than every day to keep some oils in the hair. Go to a hair salon and have them give it a trim to get the dead ends and burnt peices off, this will help to make your hair grow quicker. Hun, I'm going through the same thing with my hair.
-hope this helps(:

Wow..
My mate curled my hair the other day and it was awful. She hadn't ment too, but after a while we could smell burning so she had to stop. It still looked good though. It stunk out the house though. My mates brother walked into the kitchen and went oh my god whats that smell at the top of the stairs.. How embarassing. Even when washing my hair I could smell the burnt bits.. Errr lol... So ive arranged a hair appointment for this afternoon I hate my hair looking tacky lol.. And ive decided to only use hair straightners and curlers on special occassions.. Coz ive noticed after all the hard work I put in for my hair my natural hair looks great :)

To repair hair from straightener damage, you can buy the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner. If that doesn't help then just grow your hair then get it cut. Hope this helps!! Good Luck!! X
