Plain color socks when getting dressed up, unless I'm wearing my kilt, then I wear plaid.

Plain socks. I do one color and style usually. Makes for easier matching when one gets lost. My favorite though is my over the knee thigh socks. Love those.

Right now, plain just because they were the first ones I grabbed. (My feet were cold.) Normally it just depends on my outfit. Actually normally I just wear flip flops.
