There is reason that hair is in your nose and that's to protect you from illnesses. Now I'm not saying have a bunch hairs growing out one's nose - but it should be there for a reason..

No, it's not gross! It keeps you from getting sick! It traps dust, bacteria, viruses and keeps all that ick from getting into your lungs and making you sick! If it's long, just trim it, scissors work great!
