MAC foundations use letter codes to denote whether or not a shade of base is warm or cool in tone. In this case, NW will be a neutral (N) warm (W) shade, more suitable to women with yellowish, or olive, undertones. These sorts of women will have greenish-colored veins inside of their wrist, and they will look better in warm colored clothing, such as golden yellow, tobacco brown, or burnt orange. Women who have cooler coloring will suit MAC foundation in the NC specification, since it is neutral (N) cool (C) in tone, and therefore blends with their natural coloring. Women with cool complexions will have a blue or pink undertone to their skin, whether it is pale or dark. These women will have bluish veins inside of their wrist, and they will be flattered by colors such as magenta, pale blue, and mint green.

  • MAC facts

MAC cosmetics are heavily pigmented, which means that often contain more color pigments that other makeup types; this is one of the reasons why celebrities in the music, modeling, and entertainment industry rely on this products when they are in the public eye. For example, celebrities with strong images, who enjoy playing with different makeup effects, are strong supporters of this Canadian brand - Lady Gaga and RuPaul have both done ad campaigns for MAC makeup.

  • MAC can be expensive

The MAC product line includes foundations, eye shadows, blushes, eyeliners, mascaras, lip colors, and lip glosses, as well as professional brushes used in makeup application, and cleansing and moisturizing lotions for the skin. These products are high-end, and they can be much more expensive than traditional drug store brands, such as Maybelline or Cover Girl. However, the heavily pigmented products tend to last for a long time, and many women enjoy collecting the various elements from their wide range of cosmetics.

A MAC specialist will help a customer decide exactly where she fits into the warm or cool color spectrum, by typing her skin and assigning her a letter code she can use to find complementary colors.
