The difference between a barrette and a pinch clip is that a barrette is smaller and when you put it in you don't have to worry about it

A barette is clasped at both ends. It must be unclasped, hair gathered, reclasped.

A pinch clip is open ended, and works on a spring. It must be held open, hair gathered, released.

A Pinch Clip Is Like For Holding In  Curlers. Has A Spring. A Barette  Is Another One Of A Hair Thing But This One Is Hinged  And Must Be Undone To Let Hair Out
