Well, I’m glad this hasn’t happened to me!
The thing is, if you’ve swallowed a fake nail, there’s no point worrying about what it’s doing inside you, because there’s nothing you can do about it.
In most cases, the nail will just pass through your digestive system and, like everything else you eat, come out the other end within a day or two.
I won’t lie, though – there’s a risk that the nail could scratch or tear your insides a bit, but there’s nothing you can do about that.
Obviously, if you start getting internal pains, call your doctor. I doubt it'll come to that, though.
I was eating KFC after a night out with the girls last year, and one of my acrylic tips snapped off and fell into my popcorn chicken. I must have been sloshed - the nail was neon pink and I still didn’t see it!
Anyway, I only felt the nail when it was right at the back of my throat, and by then it was too late. I swallowed it, and I was worried for a bit, but nothing happened.
You’ll probably be safe, love – don’t worry about it. You might want to be on the look-out for any signs of discomfort or pain over the next few days, but I don’t think you need to do anything else.
