I think it's OK to decide how long your daughter's hair will be. I think short haircuts are good, especially for summer or school because they're easy to care for. Two years ago, we went short with our 11 year old daughter and we've made her keep it short since then. It's a cute pixie cut. She didn't like it at first but now is used to wearing it short.

After much discussion, we insisted our daughter (12) go short for the summer. She had shoulder-length hair that was seemed to be always pulled back in a pony and we thought that a cute short cut would be best for the hot weather and for back-to-school later this year.

Long story short: Some tears at the hairdresser's...my decision (based on the stylist's recommendation) to go with an inverted bob with a clippered neckline up to the middle of her ears. Two weeks later, she's still not very happy with the cut--but she'll get used to it.

Short hair is easy for her to care for day-to-day, but it does require monthly maintenance trims, especially in back, if you want it to look sharp.

Yes, I am a teen daughter and I had medium length hair until I was about 11 and my mom took me to the hair salon and I got a very short haircut. It was a bob that went all the way above my ears and buzzed from the middle down I didnt like it at first but I am a lot older now and I still have very short hair.

It just depends on your children and which type of hair you and her prefer. I have 1 daughter(Amber,13) and 2 sons( Mikey,9 Liam, 16) and we all have short hair. My daughter and I used to have long hair but it became to much to maintain. My daughter doesn't like it very much, but she can't take care of long hair. I went in and was going to cut it, and she wanted to get a hair cut, so we both got short pixie cuts.

This question depends on several things: How old is she? Does she have thick, thin, curly, or straight hair? Who takes care of her hair, you or is she old enough to take care of it herself? How much time do you want to spend styling it? What is the shape of her face? All of these things should be considered when discussing haircut length.

It depends. When I was little my parents took me to have my hair cut off to about and inch. I hated it because I wanted long hair and I got teased at school I still hate my hair and get teased but I'm kinda used to it and it is easier to manage seems I do a lot of sport

Cut her hair if you like because long hair should be given care day to day. So if you can't do so you can cut her hair short, like a boy cut.

Thats up to her now isn't it if she wants her hair cut then yes but if not then no and if her hair is really long try to get her to cut off at least 10" and donate it to Locks of Love

Well I'm 13 year old girl and a few weeks ago my mom and I were at the store and I saw these leave in hair curlers and I begged my mom to get them for me and she did and then when we got home she out them in and the next morning I look like a giant puff ball and I refused to go to school, so my mom said that if I didnt go then I would have to get my haircut. I didnt think she was serious, or I thought she would only do a trim. I didnt go to school that day I just stayed home and the curls came out in the shower and the next day I went to school I came home and my mom asked if I wanted to go to the store with her so we went to walmart got some groceries and on our way out we stopped at the hair salon there I begged my mom not to make me but she said I had too! I asked how much she was going to make me cut, she said we would talk to the hair dresser! The hair dresser thought that I would look better with short hair so my hair went from the middle of my back to by my ears!
