Well some places numb it but not most. It doesnt hurt too much. I find the clamp hurts more than the actual piercing but its over in like no longer than 2 minutes (only if they need to get something and leave the clamp on; which they don't). Theyll tell you to lift your shirt so they can clean it and mark it then tell you to lie down on this little bed thing. They will then clamp your belly button so they can put the needle through. After they put the piercing in theyll clean it then tell you that you can go and give you a paper on how to take care of it.

Can everybody stop saying they don't please. I had mine Done in august 2010 and they put loads of numbness on it so it didn't hurt at all, it just felt kinda weird, anyway, it looks really nice. And after you've had it done, I recommend cleaning it regulary and keeping the titanium in for about 8 months, I tried changing it and it got all sore so I am now back to square one lol ;)

They did not numb mine.  I have heard of some places using a cooling spray for numbing but most of my local places do not

Not usually, so it can be real painful. Same with ears or nose, which I had pierced.  They did not numb them.  It's sort of a right of passage and also, the people who do body piercing don't have medical licences, so they cannot administer numbing.  I had my ears pierced by a doctor, and he didn't use numbing either.  Just took out this gun, and bang, pierced ear.  Well, not a gun gun, but one special for piercing.   Now they use surgical steel in piercing.  When I was a kid, they only used gold, more proned to infections after that.  At least with steel, you can wear most anything after it has healed properly

No they don't and you have to get it done at a tattoo shop or somewhere that will do it. It hurts really bad but it totally cool afterwards

Well they did for me and one of my other friends but they don't for everyone, it depends where you go really. My friend who didn't have hers numbed said that it hurt but not much so it doesn't really matter.

I certainly would think so. When you have your ear periced they definitely numb it, and having your ear perirced isn't even painful. Remember having your belly button periced is extremely painful. If you are worried at all if they don't numb it, ask the person that do it. Then make your decision.
