I'm pretty much a minimalist when it comes to possessions and lifestyle. I don't over indulge in anything (with the exception of pizza). My car is 9 years old, I don't have much furniture, only one TV, no stereo, one 5 year old suit, basic clothing................... I tend to give things away, if you need it and I have it, it's yours.

I feel that I've gained freedom from the trappings of the
consumer culture we’ve built our lives around. Freedom from fear. Freedom from worry. Freedom from overwhelm. Freedom
from guilt. Freedom from depression.  Real freedom.

Dear Jan,

Minimalist is not my natural way, but I have done it several times, as I take off in my car with nothing but sleeping bag, tent, change of clothes and small cooler...

And I know how to "lighten up" very quickly...got down to minimal in three days this last time July 2015.

But when in an actual home I take great joy in beautiful things - some soft bright flowy clothing, sparkly fancy crystal stuff from the Lion's club annual yard sale, wonderful handmade jewelry from the Farmers' Market, and even spending actual money on my wonderful bundt pans...

So please do stop by sometime soon for some lovely dessert, I think my next project is Ricotta Cheesecake with Warmed Cherries - or maybe I will make you another Claudia Roden's Orange and Almond Cake, that was just out-of-this-world wonderful!

Probably not. I like having my memories around me. I am also far from a hoarder. My husband and I go through things regularly and donate what we no longer need or use. I have been dreading going through my closet though. Everything got shoved in when we moved, and it wasn't gone through the move the year before. (sigh.)

I generally tend in that direction - except for books.
