The "gooey" thing hanging out of your belly button is the scare tissue. No Big Deal Doll! Its totally normal. It may be a little painful, but if it bothers you enough you can pull it out. It will bleed a little, nothing major. Just keep cleaning it daily. Use Dial liquid antibacterial soap, let it sit on the piercing for about 5 minutes before rinsing. Then follow with a seal salt mixture on a q-tip! Youll be good to go. And as for you girls with the "bump" youre absolutly right... Its just a blood blister! I'm sure its annoying now, but I promise you, it will go away! The key to keeping your belly button looking hot is to keep it clean! Trust me, I'm a piercer :)

I have a blood blister on the right side of my bottom whole. Mine looks purplish and it goes away and comes back. Ive only had my piercing for 3 months. But I noticed it appears depending on the type of cleaning saline solution I use. When I was using sea salt and water it never happened but I switched to a saline solution with added chemicals and its been reacting funny. When I got it pierced the guy told me to watch out for chemicals so thats what I'm thinking is the issue. Don't take the piercing out. This is not a sign of infection. Mine bleeds and puses clear but when I talked to them they said it was normal and that the best bet was to continue cleaning it. :)

Hope this helps

I don't think its infected because I have the exact same thing and it went for a bit but now it's back. Its under the bottom hole of my piercing inside my belly bitton and its soft, purple and a bit sore but apparently it can't be infected because otherwise there would be green puss and I have some whitey yellow on mine but thats it so I think we're ok. Although I would like to know what it is and how to get rid of it ! Any ideas anyone ?

You should go back to your piercer and see what they say, doctors are not really very useful with piercing issues and often have a very negative attitude towards them. I hope you get this answer before you take the above advice and take it out, it would be a waste to take it out when it could be saved!

Take it out immediately, any infections of the belly button can travel inside and throughout your stomach and all your organs if left in to long, take it out and start putting hydrogen peroxide, and after it dries put on some triple antibiotic ointment on it until it heals . my friend had the same issue and she had like 4 around her belly button , because she although it was going to heal and never did she went to the doctor and that's what they told her.

I have my belly button pierced aswell, although i have some kind of a blister looking bump on the top left side of my belly ring, it was not a blood blister, just filled with puss. Simply boil a small amout of water, but about a hand full of sea salt in a cup and poor the boiling water in , use gauze pads and dip it into the saline solution ring out just a little bit so its not dripping and hold on belly button for 10 minutes, it will bring down swelling and compress the bump. And Good Luck.
