The white stuff is not puss it is lymph it is part of the healing process, I had mine done 6 days ago, and I have some white lymph around the bar, but just use mouthwash watered down (1 part mouthwash to 2 parts water) and also clean the tongue bar and around the bar with a soft brissled tooth brush ( a babys toothbrush works wonders) I just dip the tooth brush in the watered down mouthwash and just wash around it :) the pierced told me I can change the bar within 10days and the swellen will be down within 4 days (which it was) I also worried about the whitish "puss" but I was assured that it is perfectly normal and part of the healing process :D

Hope this was helpfull..

Your professional piercer should be able to tell you this/should've told you before you got pierced.
The healing time is 6 weeks. After two weeks you can get a smaller size barbell, then you still need to wait 4 weeks. Some take shorter, some take longer.
What kind of lump do you have? You should get back to your piercer to check it out! It could just be healing tissue but it could also be an infection. And important, infections in the head-area are never a smart idea (close to your brain).

I believe that tongue piercings heal pretty quickly (well within a week or two), which is why people who have them, have to use them or they will close up easily. The other issue with them, is they can be a possible hep C problem or entry route, because while they are pierced (or kept pierced), they are always open; they don't totally heal around the piercing like an ear piercing does.

I had my tongue pierced on thursday (now sunday) I have had no problems so far. The only thing that is bugging me is how big the initial bar is.... My tongue did not swell at all.. I sucked ice for the first 6 hours I got it done which refrained any swelling. I love my piercing. Good luck with yours... I advise listerine for washing your mouth out with and ice... Lots and lots of ice .

I got my tongue pierced a week ago today... I was in some bad shape 4 about 3 days, all I could do was drink soup and juice.. I did do some ice but I drank a lot of milk shakes and slushies. Now thats its been a week I can really eat up some food I take small bites and chew slowly. I either got pierced with a short bar bell or have a really fat tongue because I need a longer one... Anyway all in all I love it.

Do some research on www.bmezine.com, you don't mention if you're following the proper aftercare but there's plenty of information on this site.

Okay I have a question I got my tongue pierced a couple days ago. The piercing is pretty far back because I had braces and I didn't want to mess up my teeth. My tongue is pretty swollen but the thing I'm worried about is I have a stinging pain down the front/ right side of my neck, is that normal? I'm super worried that its infected.

I got my tongue pierced on monday its now wednesday. I have 3 small white balls around the piercing, it looks like skin tags almost...my teacher who had hers done said thats normal and they will just fall off eventually. Everyones tongue will heal differently..I think its just from eating...Btw I eat like a cow just like I did without the tongue ring... You just have to eat slow so you don't bite the ball...so everyone who says you can't eat after you get it don't is a fib...ive had no problem eating and mine barely hurts =]

I got my tongue piercing done about 3 weeks ago, it was doing fine but about two days ago, appeared a small fleshy bump in front of my tongue piercing, I'm very worry.

The second thing is that like in 2 month I will have a plastic surgery and I don't want to remove my piercing I love it, can I just a crystal one or a retainer flat top?

Glad to hear it's ok now! When you have a piercing and there seems to be a problem, always go back to your piercer. Don't doubt, just go. There's no harm in it. If there's nothing, you can ease your mind. If there is something wrong, you got to it in time and hopefully it can be fixed soon.
Once again; i'm glad everything's ok :)

I had my tongue done yesterday. And iv had no problems with it so far. No swelling or nothing. I'm guessing if you have no problems it will heal between a week or two. If your tongue swells maybe slightly longer.

Yes, it is infected because you should not have a lump on your tongue at all please go to the doctor for it but it take up two weeks to heal up.
